Even though I was a girl, at that age all I wanted to be was a cowboy. So I grew up to be a librarian.

I vividly remember this book being the first one I read all by myself! I was sitting on my bed and half-way through the book it dawned on me that I was reading. I jumped up and ran to tell my mom, who answered, 'Now you have the world in your hands!

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
I was in the 2nd grade when I first read this book. It was my first taste of true adventure and has stuck with me. After school I would go home and crawl to the back of the closet. 40 years later I'm still crawling back there.

We were on summer vacation, didn't have any money to go anywhere, my mother read it to my sister and I. We were probably 8 and 10 or so. It was the first book I remember although my mother, aunt and brothers read to us all the time.
